Share a memorable story about a pet you've treated.
Treating a cat after a horrible house fire in a cat hoarding situation. Over 50 cats had been found deceased. Days after treating many of the cats that had smoke inhalation issues one small cat had been found in a box, the owners thought it was passed. I listened and found a heartbeat and at that point on it was my mission to save this little cat. Her little ears, paws and body were burnt. Her eyes had been sealed shut from the severe heat. After being in the clinic on Iv and taking lots of medications to keep her comfortable she started to eat and show life. I brought her home and changed her bandages for weeks and every day she became stronger. After weeks of therapy her little paw pads healed, her eyes were bright, and she was full of love. In the end we found her a perfect home to live happily ever after.

Share a pet care tip or trick that people might not know about.
When teaching puppies or dogs for nail trims, teach them that the noise of clipping the nail is not scary. You can do this by clipping wooden cotton swabs and rewarding when the noise is made. Then when doing their own nails they don’t care.

What inspired you to work in this industry?
I grew up in a farm setting, so animals have been my passion my whole life. As kids we would always find those sick babies that struggled and try to save them. I knew I wanted to help animals for a living.
-
What advancements in veterinary medicine are you most excited about?
I’m particularly excited about advancements in regenerative medicine, such as Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy, stem cell treatments, and innovations in laser therapy. These cutting-edge techniques are revolutionizing how we manage pain, promote healing, and improve the quality of life for our animal patients.
-
How do you collaborate with pet owners to provide the best care possible for their animals?
Educate owners. Use the knowledge you have to create a bond with clients and help them with their questions and concerns. I’ve realized over the years that what veterinary staff think is common knowledge to everyone is not. Teach! Listen and improve your relationships with clients to build trust and a bond.
