Sarah earned her Veterinary Technician diploma from Thompson Rivers University, where she discovered a special passion for dental care. When she’s not helping pets maintain healthy smiles, she’s enjoying time with her son, Cooper, and their trio of cats—Tyra, Charlie, and Loki.

What's your favorite part about working with animals?
My favourite part about working with animals is creating a bond with them and seeing their personalities shine when they learn something new.

Share a pet care tip or trick that people might not know about.
Be sure to check your pets’ teeth. It’s important to brush your pets’ teeth or use alternative methods of brushing such as providing a dental diet, using dental wipes, or a water additive to prevent tartar build up and possible extractions in the future.

What's the most rewarding aspect of your job?
The most rewarding aspect of my job as a veterinary technician is to see an animal return to their happy selves after recovering from illness.

What advice would you give to pet owners to ensure their pets lead healthy lives?
Preventative medicine is very important in the veterinary industry as it can prevent diseases from occurring or provide early detection of certain diseases.

How do you collaborate with pet owners to provide the best care possible for their animals?
Communication with pet owners is key to providing the best care for our patients. Getting a history on what is going in with the pet and following with a treatment plan that is best suited for the pet is a must to keep our patients healthy and happy.
